On June 13, 2017, an alert was broadcast by the Dudley (MA) Police Department for the theft of aluminum tent staging. Within 24 hours, employees at Schnitzer Steel metal recycling yard in Worcester, MA, recognized the stolen material based on the alert and notified police. Although the alert put the loss at $500, further investigation by police with the assistance of Schnitzer Steel identified additional stolen aluminum tent staging for a total loss of over $18,000. Approximately 75% of the stolen material was recovered with assistance from Schnitzer Steel. One suspect was arrested.
