On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, actions taken by employees at Allied Scrap Processors in Lakeland, FL, in response to an alert issued the day before by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, resulted in the arrest of a suspect.  The alert was issued in response to the theft of over 1,400 lbs. of copper wire valued at approximately $10,000. When told the ownership of the wire required verification, the suspect left with the stolen material.  The suspect was arrested at a nearby yard after Allied employees notified the Sheriff's Office and contacted area recyclers.
